Palm Harbor’s Lucky Dill – Huge menu, huge flavor

Palm Harbor

Palm Harbor is nestled between Clearwater, Dunedin, and Tarpon Springs.  It primarily consists of family neighborhoods, restaurants and businesses.  With Highway 19 cutting through the middle of it, you can see one restaurant that is always busy, no matter when you drive by (and they open at 8am!).

New York Style - Inside and Out

Like stepping into Brooklyn, this place oozes New York.  From the graffiti covered walls, to the old subway beams, it will transport you.

The Lucky Dill features a restaurant, a deli, a bakery, and one of the best selections of beers and drinks in Palm Harbor in the NYC Bar.  This Palm Harbor favorite grew out of an old location on Alt 19 and this one has a separate entrance for their Deli/Bakery, making it a convenient stop for dessert to-go or day-old bread (2 bags for $1!).

Big crowds, big menu, big food!

Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the Lucky Dill has enough choices to eat here for all 3 meals all week without eating the same thing twice.  Their menu is huge...really huge!  I am not a fan of huge menus, and I find that most restaurants shouldn't have them.  They tend to do a few things well and the rest are...mediocre.  Not at the Lucky Dill - they have hundreds of items on their menu, and somehow seem to do each one justice!

All meals start with fresh baked bread.  No frozen breadsticks here - this is real, fresh bakery bread.  I wanted to try a little of everything so I started off with the Ritz Blitz - a sampler of wings, mozzarella sticks, and fried green tomatoes.  The wings and mozzarella sticks were fresh, but the tomatoes - they stole the show.  Thick, lightly breaded and seasoned tomatoes with a delicious pesto sauce, bleu cheese crumbles, and red tomato.

Then I shifted gears to breakfast.  The Lucky Dill specializes in pastrami and corned beef, so I decided on the Traditional Corn Beef Hash and Eggs.  While the corn beef hash was good, the potato pancake that was served on the side was superb!

With breakfast out of the way, it's time for lunch.  The Knuckle Sandwich - a fresh roll piled high with tender, well seasoned Prime Rib. Top that with grilled onions, peppers, and horseradish, and this is one delectable sandwich!
